Long summer days and even longer nights are just around the corner, which means the season of outdoor concerts is upon us in Vancouver. When it comes to a classic summertime experience, it doesn’t get much better than a concert at Stanley Park’s historic Malkin Bowl, which has seen Canadian legends like Blue Rodeo, The Tragically Hip, and, more recently, bbno$ perform onstage.
According to Destination Vancouver, former Vancouver Mayor W.H. Malkin had the bowl built in 1934 to commemorate his late wife. While the venue is open year-round, it’s best known as a summertime spot for international touring performances and musical theatre.
Speaking of, the Malkin Bowl is the home of Stanley Park’s beloved outdoor theatre experience, Theatre Under the Stars, which will feature two iconic shows this upcoming season: Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Legally Blonde.
There’s also a two-day, all-ages music festival called Westwood in the Wild coming up next month, with artists like The Funk Hunters, Moontricks, Dirtwire, and The Sponges in the lineup.
Ready to sway to your favourite artists while surrounded by lush nature?
That’s a wrap for now, outdoor music lovers. Now’s your chance to start looking ahead and grabbing tickets, but stay tuned for more concert info to come.
