This Autumn Equinox celebration will bring an illuminated lantern parade to Green Lake Park this weekend

While the last days of summer are a sad occasion, the Fremont Arts Council has a beautiful celebration of the transition of seasons. It’s called Luminata and it is a handmade lantern parade around Seattle’s Green Lake. You can participate in it this weekend and here’s how.

Luminata will take place this year on Saturday, September 23rd, at Green Lake Park and will include lanterns crafted by the community. While this event is cool in itself, what makes it even more amazing is the fact that each year, Seattleites are invited to help create the lanterns.

Because the parade is this weekend, the window for creating lanterns has passed but it’s good to remember for next years celebration.

As an attendee you can purchase lanterns at the parade. Sales from the lanterns go to support the Fremont Arts Council so experiences like Luminata and the Fremont Summer Solstice Parade can continue.

With that, get ready to watch as Green Lake comes to life with all of those beautiful lanterns. Enjoy!

When: Saturday, September 23rd
