There’s an immersive art festival with a light tunnel & LED performances coming to Vancouver

If you love public art and holiday light displays, get ready to marry them both at this year’s Lumiere Festival. The immersive showcase features a variety of international artists and their works of art, which are sprinkled at over 10 locations across Vancouver.

Completely free to attend, the Lumiere Festival has plenty of immersive artistic works to check out this year. Highlights include “The Tunnel” by Paul Magnuson, a one-way journey through a series of 12-foot-tall cosmic structures that create a tunnel of light and sound.

There’s also “Life is a Circus” by Sandra Berube, who created a gravity-defying, circusy art installation that audience members can interact with by pulling on ropes.

Finally, visitors can expect to see some live performances as well, including at the “Rec Room” (1200 Bute Street). Here, LED performances by Elektric Collective will take place in four roving sets on November 3rd and 4th.

Other interactive art installations to look out for? A giant kaleidoscope with over a thousand LED lights inside, a lantern-making workshop, a glowing ‘jellyfish forest,’ bike decorating, and a 9-foot-tall illuminated cinema box serving up free popcorn every night (featured at Burning Man!).

The festival will run from November 2nd to 6th this year from 5 to 9:30 pm.

So there you have it, art lovers. Get ready to immerse yourself in some truly spectacular art.
