If you needed another wellness experience to add to your routine, here’s a new one. Toronto’s first-ever floating sauna and plunge pool is coming to the waterfront, and it’s opening next month.
A trip abroad inspired founders Nick and Jess Rastas to bring this concept west to the Okanagan region in British Columbia. It was the first of its kind and almost sentimental, as decades ago, Nick’s grandfather was building portable saunas. This ritual was an embraced experience within his community before cold plunging was even a trend.
Nearing the end of 2023, löyly opened its doors in Kelowna, B.C., welcoming in the new year, one cold dip at a time. Now, it’s making its way to Toronto.
The Finnish name löyly is defined as “the steam that rises when water hits the stones.” In other words, it’s fitting for the concept.
“It’s the part of the sauna you can’t quite describe,” shares their site. “But once you’ve felt it, you’ll understand.”
After finding success on the West Coast, the team is coming to the shores of Toronto, planning to open sometime in December 2025.
They have yet to announce an official date, but just last week, the team announced they were hiring.
“Löyly Floating Sauna is looking for warm + reliable Sauna Hosts to join our seasonal team (December – April, with possible extension),” they shared.
“If you love sauna, cold plunging, and creating welcoming spaces, this could be the perfect fit. Other skills like breathwork coaching, meditation guides & aufguss is a bonus.”
You’ll get all the sauna perks, competitive wages and the chance to work with a lovely view of Toronto’s waterfront.
