This BC beach was just ranked as one of the best in the world

Is there anything more widely celebrated in Vancouver every summer (and year-round) than a gorgeous beach? We seriously doubt it. Whether you’re a dedicated surfer, casual swimmer, or enjoy a long walk along the coastline – there’s truly a beach for everyone in BC. That’s why we’re so thrilled to share that Long Beach in Tofino was just named one of the best beaches in the world! While the beach certainly speaks for itself, it always feels nice to be recognized globally.

The list of 100 best beaches was compiled by none other than Beach Atlas – so you know they know what they’re talking about. Long Beach sits at #33 – a very respectable spot considering all the stunning beaches around the globe that accompany Tofino on the list.

Beach Atlas writes that Long Beach spans “an impressive 10 kilometres,” and is known as the “Surf Capital of Canada.” They definitely got that part right! Long Beach is part of three sections that make up the Pacific Rim National Park, and it happens to be one of the most popular spots for surfers on the West Coast. With forest views, mild water temps, and large waves that rival California’s – we can certainly see why.

How to get to Long Beach

To get to Long Beach from Vancouver, you’ll need to first take a bus to Horseshoe Bay from downtown. Next, you’ll take a ferry to Nanaimo and then transfer to the West Coast & Tofino bus. Once you’re at Long Beach at Airport Road, it’s a short cab ride or hike down to the beach.

If you’re looking to take a day or weekend trip sometime soon, Tofino is definitely at the top of our list.

We’ll catch ya at Long Beach, Vancouver! Bring your boards and sunscreen.
