Ever wandered through Calgary’s Central Library and thought, “hey, this would make an amazing escape room”? Well, you’re in luck. Locked Library is officially returning this year, bringing another after-hours adventure to the space this month.
On Feb. 20, 2026, Central Library will close its doors to the public and transform into the ultimate escape room, spanning all four floors.
The event promises a “brain-ticklin’, sneaker-shufflin trek” through the library, where participants will work on puzzles and challenges hidden throughout the building.
Doors are set to open at 7 p.m., with the game kicking off at 7:30 p.m. Players will have two hours to put their problem-solving skills to the test.
“While families have solved the puzzles and successfully escaped the Locked Library before, we recommend this event for ages 12+,” shares organizers.
It’s a great option for those looking for something a little different to do on a winter night.
Beyond the fun, Locked Library also supports a great cause. All proceeds from this event go directly toward vital programming, resources and initiatives at the library.
Tickets can be purchased online for $40 per person.
Organizers recommend a team size of two to four players for the most engaging experience.
Seasoned puzzle-solver or not, Locked Library is a unique experience and a great way to explore one of the city’s most beloved buildings.
Have fun, Calgary.
