When it comes to sniffing out amazing and in-friggin-credible things in our city, province or even the whole of the Great White North, we have something of a superpower. And today we bring you our most recent find. Enter: Mimi & August, a Montreal-based local boutique that ships Canada-wide.
To give you the back story— we originally came across the boutique while hunting for the perfect Mother’s Day gift. You see, they have a beautifully curated selection of items for their Mother’s Day gift box. They call it the Petit Jardin.
The box includes a 100% natural soap bar, a bamboo soap dish, a relaxation candle, plated gold earrings, a natural room spray, a Konjac sponge and a decorative illustration. And we don’t say this lightly but each of these things is straight-up adorable.
A little more digging and we discovered that this local boutique is a treasure trove of all things adorable, sustainable, ethical and affordable. All at once!
You’ll find glam swimsuits, comfy tees, sweet-scented candles, reusable coffee cups, decorative illustrations and much more. All of this is ethically and mindfully manufactured with organic, natural materials without compromising “the quality and living conditions of people who produce them.”
Living up to their commitment to reducing waste and encouraging slow fashion, many of their things are crafted with recycled material. And we aren’t talking stationery alone. Their sultry swimsuits too are made with ECONYL-certified recycled material. And of course, they use compostable packaging.
Now add to this, the fact that everything they house is exclusive, made in small batches, pretty and surprisingly budget-friendly and you have yourself a winner of a local boutique.
What we loved even more than their collection and their undeniable commitment to sustainability is their approach to beauty. Their clothing is made for all women. And as such, is modelled by all women too. They have sizes from XS to 4X, something that’s hard to come by (speaking on behalf of all curvy women).
