This BC park has cascading waterfalls and a popular lake for swimming

In search of a spring or summertime adventure? Little Qualicum Falls on Vancouver Island is a beautiful place to spend the day or weekend, and there’s plenty to do for every outdoor enthusiast.

Situated on the southern shore of Cameron Lake, Little Qualicum Falls Park boasts breathtaking waterfalls that cascade over steep mountain peaks, making this area a hotspot for hikers and campers alike.

Visitors can go for a dip in the lake, explore 6 km of riverside trails lined with old-growth and bridges, and enjoy picnic facilities at the park. Cameron Lake also happens to be an ideal spot for sailboarding and fishing, according to BC Parks. So consider your future long weekend plans made!

Note that the lake and Beaufort day-use areas are situated 10 minutes west of the campground.

For an easy walk, hikers can leave from the day-use area and follow a loop trail to view the lower and upper waterfalls. A lookout point is located along this trail, offering spectacular views of the river and upper falls.

Of note, the area from 75 metres above the Middle Falls Bridge to the downstream park boundary is closed to swimmers.

So there you have it, BC! If you’re in search of a well-maintained provincial park to explore, this is a great one to start with.

Happy adventuring!
