There’s a special sort of charm to seeing drive-by Christmas lights during the holiday season.
Bundling up in some warm knits, bringing along a thermos of hot chocolate and finding awe in the mesmerizing, colourful lights is a beloved annual pastime for Canadians.
Luckily, we’ve got a brilliant drive-through holiday display right near Calgary, and it’s seriously impressive.
You’ll only need to drive about an hour north of Calgary to get to Discovery Wildlife Park, and it’s absolutely worth the trip to catch its annual Light the Night event.
Pack the fam and your favourite furry friend into the car for this road trip out to Innisfail, catch some exquisite light displays, and rediscover some holiday magic this season.

Discovery Wildlife Park is close to Red Deer and Calgary, and it’s an unbeatable holiday destination. If you’re looking to recreate some Christmas magic, Light the Night is it.
It’s open seven days a week from Nov. 14 to Jan. 4, so you’ll have lots of time to plan your trip.
The display takes approximately 20 to 25 minutes to drive through, and you can cruise slowly at 5 km/h to take in safari lights, glowing pop culture characters and more. You can stop briefly at each display for photos, but exiting your vehicle is not permitted.
However, new this year, Light the Night will have a walk-through display section that you can meander through at the end of the driving section.
A Christmas Store packed with festive décor and holiday treasures will have the perfect gift for everyone on your list, and you can even meet the Grinch every Wednesday to Sunday from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
At Light the Night, you’re invited to come for the lights and stay for the magic of the holiday season.
You’ll have until Jan. 4 to check out this festive frenzy of lights, and it’s one holiday favourite you don’t want to miss!
