There’s a new Toronto beach with a lookout tower opening this summer

Toronto’s newest beach is shaping up to open to the public this summer featuring forested dunes and a lookout tower. Here’s what to know about the highly anticipated Leslie Lookout Park in Toronto’s Port Lands.

The new sandy destination in Toronto’s east end is located on the Martin Goodman Trail, right at the entrance to Tommy Thompson Park. Per the park’s official website, it was once an industrial hub but now it has gotten a new look.

It will be home to a public beach with forested dunes and according to CreateTO’s CEO Vic Gupta, an upcoming lookout tower.

Gupta shared a sneak peek at the “soon-to-come” park via LinkedIn.

“The construction progress is impressive and I’m thrilled to share some snapshots of the beach, the lookout tower in the works and the picturesque waterfront view,” shared Gupta.

“The park is set to open this summer and will be a transformative addition to Toronto’s east end, offering a public beach with forested dunes and a viewing platform for panoramic views of Toronto’s dramatic skyline. I can’t wait to take my family here this summer!”

Claude Cormier + Associés, the design team behind the park also worked on Toronto’s Sugar Beach and Berczy Park.

Visitors will also find a mural “depicting the Great Anishinaabe Migration, created by Indigenous artist and architectural designer Dani Kastelein-Longlade of Brook McIlroy.”

It will be on display until the park opens and then relocated to a yet-to-be-determined spot in the Port Lands for 18 months.

Though a set date has yet to be determined, we can only hope to spend summer days at Leslie Lookout Park soon.
