Water you waiting for: Alberta Lake towns worth a visit before summer ends

Summer is almost over, but as long as the weather cooperates, there’s plenty to see and do under the heat of the sun! If of course, you’re one of the many who are feeling a tad burnt out from all of the wackiness over the last few months consider taking a staycation to recharge before getting back into it. Sylvan Lake

Sylvan Lake has all the makings for a perfect day trip if you’re legitimately looking for a full day or weekend away. This popular spot is only about an hour and a half outside of Calgary and Edmonton, and is an excellent place to grab a bite to eat, browse quaint little shops, or hit their iconic ice cream shop – plus you can still be home before dinner!

Cold Lake

Located northeast of Edmonton, the city of Cold Lake has beautiful beaches, shops, restaurants, campsites and hotels – for those looking for a soft bed and some air conditioning. They also have quite the community calendar, if you’re hoping to hang with the locals.

Slave Lake
