This Ontario park with ‘spectacular’ cliffs & beaches is a fall camping oasis

Nature lovers, say hello to the crown jewel of Ontario’s wilderness. There’s no question that Lake Superior Provincial Park is the perfect place to visit (and camp!) in the summer and fall.

From dramatic cliffs and pristine beaches to winding river valleys and cascading waterfalls, every area reveals something new.

The Algoma Hills add an extra layer of charm to the park, and when autumn arrives, the entire area is transformed into a vibrant canvas of fall colors.

If you’re prepared for the crisp conditions, you can camp out at Lake Superior’s Rabbit Blanket Campground.

Open until October 29th, this campground is situated on an inland lake with a small beach area, says Ontario Parks.

You can warm up by the fire or with a challenging hike on the nearby Peat Mountain Trail, which takes you to the top of the summit overlooking ridges and valleys.

But, if that’s too intense for you, don’t sweat it because there are options for all skill levels — Old Woman Bay is a great option for a relaxing picnic.

Another fascinating sight worth seeing is the Agawa Rock Pictographs, which you can explore between mid-May and mid-September.

These 35 red ochre images are visible when the lake is calm and are one of the few pictograph sites in Ontario accessible by foot.

For fishing enthusiasts, Lake Superior Provincial Park offers fantastic trout fishing opportunities.

The water of Lake Superior may be too chilly to swim in, but paddling is a “magical experience as ocean-like swells move under your boat and reflect off rocky headlands or foam into cobble beaches,” says Northern Ontario Travel.

When it comes to camping, the park has something for everyone.

There are two campgrounds that cater to both RVs and tents.

The park also has over 200 backcountry campsites where you can truly connect with nature.

So, whether you’re seeking stunning vistas, thrilling adventures, ancient wonders, or a peaceful retreat, Lake Superior Provincial Park has it all.
