This Ontario park with breathtaking views overlooking rolling hills of colour has reached peak fall foliage

Fall colours are starting to make an appearance around the province! Ontario Parks are some of the best places to spot the changing colours of autumn and the organization even keeps track of where each park is in terms of their peak. Lake Superior Park is one of the few parks at its peak right now and here’s why you should check it out.

Getting there

The drive is worth it! Getting to Lake Superior Provincial Park from Toronto will take you around nine and a half hours.

The park is situated in Algoma County and while it’s a bit of a journey, the fall colours, lake views and other sights along the drive are part of the adventure!

The park

According to Ontario Parks, “spectacular and diverse scenery – cliffs, beaches, river valleys, waterfalls, inland lakes, Algoma Hills and fall colours” are just a handful of views that await you at Lake Superior Provincial Park.

The trails here are considered “world-class” so make sure you pack your hiking boots.

There are 11 trails total that let visitors explore a variety of landscapes including rocky shores, beaches, lakes and rivers, waterfalls, forests, wetlands and rolling hills.

Orphan Lake Trail is one of the most popular, an 8km loop that ends with a spectacular lookout over Lake Superior and all the changing foliage.

Fees

You’ll need to pay a park fee to spend the day at Lake Superior Provincial Park.

A day pass for the park is $12.25 per vehicle. There are also camping options until mid-October. If you’re interested in spending a few extra nights you can check availability here.

Time to start planning your visit!
