Canada’s most southern town is in Ontario and it shares the same latitude as California

Time to take a trip down south! Southern Ontario, that is. Canada’s most southern town is called Kingsville, and it’s nestled along the shores of Lake Erie. The area is known for having a warm climate and even shares the same latitude as California!

From Toronto, the drive to Kingsville will take you around four hours.

The area neighbours Amherstburg and Leamington and sits on the northern shore of Lake Erie.

Things to do in Kingsville

Because of the town’s warm climate, the area is the perfect place for wineries.

Kingsville Winery is one of the most popular in the region. Stop in and do a wine tasting, or book a spot on one of their specialty wine tours, including the VIP Tour with tastings and charcuterie. Who would possibly say no to that? Not I.

If beer is more your beat, Kingsville has amazing spots for that, too. The Grove Hotel and Grove Brew House microbrewery serve beers made on-site and have local bites in their restaurant section.

As someone who grew up near Kingsville,  I have to recommend one of the greatest places around – Colasanti’s.

This local spot is loved by all who visit and is open 361 days a year.

The facility includes a petting zoo, an arcade, a greenhouse, and a restaurant.

There’s a to-go section in the restaurant, and you have to take home some of their famous cinnamon donuts and homemade peach juice.

In the warmer months, be sure to stroll one of the beaches along the shore, including Cedar Beach and Cedar Creek Conservation Area, Cedar Island Beach and Mettawas Beach.

A perfect day in Kingsville awaits.
