Ontario’s “Biggest Little Town” is in the Muskokas & is surrounded by tranquil lakes

This next Ontario adventure is just a drive away, and it’s a nature lovers dream. With peace, tranquility, and pristine waters, Kearney, Ontario is known for its tranquil lakes and welcoming community. Here’s what to know.

According to a town’s site, Kearney aka Ontario’s “Biggest Little Town,” located in the heart of the Almaguin Highlands and found across three access routes to Algonquin Park.

From Toronto, it’s almost a three-hour drive but a scenic one at that. Though there are permanent residents in the town, it is a cottagers’ paradise as over 2,500 people reside there during the cottage season.

According to the town, Kearney offers pristine waters, lush forests, and beautiful natural scenery.

But for those who absolutely love the water, Kearney is surrounded by lakes and creeks perfect for fishing, canoeing, kayaking, or simply relaxing.

Sand Lake, Loon Lake, Cashmen Creek, Magnetawan River, and Mirror Bay are just a few of the lakes in the area that are simply asking to be enjoyed.

Besides the natural wonders the town offers, they also host annual events like Christmas Begins in Kearney, dog sled races, art shows, and a summer regatta.

Though it is a wonderful experience in the fall, this town is an all-season destination and a must-visit whenever you have the chance.
