Justin Bieber gives candid health update following cancelled concerts (VIDEO)

Well folks, there are some times where it’s ok to be a little peeved at an artist cancelling a concert, but this absolutely ain’t it. Shortly after cancelling a number of concerts, including some in Toronto, Justin Bieber has taken to social media to provide an explanation. And sheesh, it looks pretty serious.

In a roughly three-minute long video, Bieber explained that his cancelled shows were due to the development of the relatively rare Ramsay Hunt Syndrome. But before we go into that, here’s the update from the iconic singer himself…

Justin Bieber cancels Toronto concert hours before show due to “sickness”

According to Rare Diseases, Ramsay Hunt syndrome (RHS) is a rare neurological disorder characterized by paralysis of the facial nerve (facial palsy) and a rash affecting the ear or mouth. Affected individuals usually experience paralysis (palsy) of the facial nerve and a rash affecting the ear. These two symptoms do not always occur simultaneously. In most cases, only one side of the face is affected (unilateral).

Which is pretty much exactly how Justin Bieber explains his current state and why he cancelled the concerts. According to the Mayo Clinic, “prompt treatment of Ramsay Hunt syndrome can reduce the risk of complications.” So, we’re hoping that he’s caught it early enough that he’ll be back to normal sooner rather than later.

And of course, in the meanwhile, we’re hoping that he takes as much time as he needs to get back to his healthy self.
