“Since August 2022, Parks Canada has been making improvements to the pedestrian railing located on the Johnston Canyon Trail from the Lower Falls to the Upper Falls. The railing has been replaced and extended, with approximately 1.3 kilometres of new railing installed,” Banff National Park wrote on their Facebook.

“Johnston Canyon Trail users can now access the majority of the trail, including Upper Falls and Ink Pots. Please be advised that a small segment of the upper falls, leading to the viewpoint area, remains closed to visitors as it is still under repair.”

Want to check it out? Roam Public Transit is currently piloting a weekend service to the falls and you can book now.

If however, you’d like to drive yourselves there, visitors are advised to plan ahead and have a backup plan just in case they’re extremely busy or there is no parking.

For more information, you can check out the Parks Canada website, otherwise safe travels!
