Sandy beaches and rolling dunes await at an Ontario park opening this week

Ontario Parks are slowly starting to open for the season around the province, and a particularly beautiful one is set to open this week on April 25, 2025. Tucked along Lake Huron, Inverhuron Provincial Park is a gorgeous spot known for its sandy beaches and for being one of the best places to catch a sunset in the area.

Inverhuron Provincial Park is located in Tiverton, Ont., about three hours by car from Toronto, and close to Kincardine.

While the beach is definitely the main attraction, you don’t need to wait until it’s warm enough to swim to check out this park.

There are a handful of trails you can explore while visiting, with the Chain Trail being the longest and most scenic. “This trail takes you past the historic lime kiln located near Gunn Point,” shares Ontario Parks.

You can also see dolostone along this stretch, which is made up of ancient sea creatures compressed over millions of years – yep!

The dolostone was “quarried to construct the local Chantry Island and Point Clark lighthouses.” The park holds evidence that the land has been used by cultures for over 4,000 years, too. Pretty cool.

The River Trail takes hikers along the Little Sauble River with a couple of lookouts along the way, spanning about 3 km.

Fees to each Ontario Park are specific, meaning the price for a Day Use Permit depends on the time of year (Off Season, Peak Season) as well as the amenities the park provides, ranging from $12.25 to $21 per vehicle.

If you don’t have weekend plans, be one of the first to explore the park this season, or just add it to your spring/summer bucket list.

Don’t forget to stay for a sunset, Ontario.
