Explore your creative side at the InglewooDIY Festival in Calgary

Calling local makers, appreciators, and aspiring creators! Calgary’s favourite arts and culture hub is hosting a two-week-long event dedicated to DIY-ing. InglewooDIY Festival will insert creativity into every nook and cranny of the neighbourhood, and you don’t want to miss it.

From May 11 to 25, 2025, expect dozens of workshops, demonstrations, and art installations to be scattered throughout Inglewood. The self-guided journey can be tailored to your interests and price range.

Meet your makers

A total of 58 maker workshops will cover all sorts of interests. Foodies should check out Chocolate Making at Konfeta Chocolaterie, Cookie and Cupcake Frosting at La Savour Patisserie, Fermentation at The Light Cellar, and Sushi Making at Chef Toru.

Got a green thumb? Put it to use at a  Kokedama or terrarium workshop at Plant Plant, create a dried floral arrangement at The Apothecary in Inglewood, or try your hand at Natural Fabric Dye & Eco Plant Prints at Ruby’s Healing Garden.

If you’re drawn to less-conventional means of creation, then you won’t want to miss the Matchbook Art and Make Your Own Tuft Rug workshops at Worn Studio, Punch Needle Art at Your Local Plant Mami, or a Tombstone Making workshop with Haunted Calgary.

And of course, there are plenty of other workshops on painting, textiles, soaps and lotions, and more. If you can dream it, you can create it!

There will also be six sessions that are only 20 minutes long and free or by donation.

Hone a new skill

For something more focused on skills and knowledge, 16 creative sessions are available, with topics like gems and metals, poetry and songwriting, wounds and gore makeup, and wheel-throwing.

Ever wonder what happens behind the scenes at some of your favourite Calgary spots? Take a tour exploring hatmaking, coffee roasting, film processing, tire fixing, or music-making.

And no creative festival is complete without the opportunity to do a little shopping. Support your favourite creators at the Vintage and Makers Markets, Mercantile on 9th Market, Asian Creatives YYC Showcase & Market, and Youth Art Festival & Artist Market.

You can also check out art exhibitions and street installations throughout the two weeks, with opportunities to meet some of the artists.

Put on your painting smock and learn something new from May 11 to 25 at the InglewooDIY Festival. Register in advance online.
