Normally Canada stays pretty on-brand for being a peaceful and fun, loving country. But sometimes our country’s animals say otherwise. First, it was Vancouver’s knife-carrying crow and now it’s Toronto’s knife-wielding squirrel. Well, folks, it looks like 2021 is off to an interesting start!
Andrea Diamond was having a normal morning until she looked into her Rosedale-area backyard on Wednesday, January 6th around 10:00 AM. It’s then that she saw a squirrel making off with the pairing knife that she had left outside next to the tent she uses for social distancing purposes. And it feels safe to say that this squirrel woke up and chose violence.

But so far it doesn’t look like the squirrel has hurt anyone with the knife or has intentions to. Rather the furry critter seemed fascinated by the knife and chewed on it for a bit. What else would you do when you discover a foreign object?
Anyway, this seems pretty appropriate as an opening gesture for the year. But it turns out the critters in Diamond’s back yard also got into some hand sanitizer.
