Lake Louise in Alberta will enchant with an ice castle & frozen art this winter

The Rocky Mountains in the winter are pure magic, but this January few events will dazzle adventure-seekers like the Ice Magic Festival at Lake Louise in Alberta.

A frosty tradition held on one of the most beautiful lakes in the world, this particular experience is a must-visit every snowy season.

What to Expect During the Ice Magic Festival in Lake Louise

This year, the five-day event will take place between Jan. 29 and Feb. 2, 2025, and feature larger-than-life sculptures of animals, people, wintery scenes, and a castle—all brought to life by world-class artists.

In addition, those who attend will also be able to grab a hot cocoa, watch frozen masterpieces come to life right before their eyes, and soak in the view of the Rocky Mountains.

There is, however, a catch.

Plan Your Visit

Due to its popularity and to conserve the area, you will have to be a guest at one of their participating hotels to attend.

“Lake Louise is an incredibly special place within Banff National Park, and we work closely with Parks Canada to ensure that any event within the destination prioritizes protecting the landscape and wildlife,” they explain.

“Demand for Ice Magic has consistently exceeded what Lake Louise is able to sustainably manage. So, to continue hosting the historic Ice Magic event, we’ve had to adjust what its format looks like.”

Luckily, once you check-in, you can check it out for free!

According to Banff and Lake Louise, tickets are complimentary and include shuttle transportation, which is required and will depart from the Lake Louise Ski Resort, where parking is available.

Believe us when we say that you won’t want to miss this, Alberta!

There’s truly nothing like it, and it only happens once a year.

Enjoy and remember to tag us in your photos! We want to see everything!
