This lakeside Ontario town is a kaleidoscope of colour during autumn

There’s no doubt about it – the Muskoka area is a popular summer destination but it’s truly it’s most beautiful in the fall. One of the area’s coziest towns is Huntsville, Ontario. This lakeside spot boats fall colours you need to see to believe and some other hidden gems too!

Getting there

Huntsville, Ontario is three hours north of Toronto by car.

The scenic drive through the Muskoka area is gorgeous itself but just wait until you get there.

What to do

According to the Huntsville tourism website “Each fall, Mother Nature composes a masterpiece” in the town, calling it “a kaleidoscope of colour”.

Lion’s Lookout is a popular spot year-round, but in the fall it comes alive. Located in the heart of town the lookout offers a panoramic view of the fall foliage blanketing Downtown Huntsville, “the surrounding hills, and the shores of Fairy Lake.”

The lookout is on, well, Lookout Road! Pretty easy to find. It’s a relatively easy hike to the vantage point once you’ve arrived and the views are priceless.

Arrowhead Provincial Park is another must-visit in the autumn. This Ontario Park is where you’ll find even more scenic lookouts such as the Big Bend Lookout.

Just steps from the parking lot, this lookout leads to a panoramic view of the meandering Big East River and the Muskoka terrain that surrounds the area.

Stubb’s Falls Trai leads to a small waterfall, perfect for relaxing by and taking in the views.

End your day with a beverage! Huntsville is known for being home to a couple of great breweries: Lake of Bays Brewery Huntsville Brewhouse and Canvas Brewing.

Sounds like the perfect day in Huntsville, Ontario awaits!
