Here’s how to apply to be a professional Santa Claus in Toronto

As the festive season approaches, some Toronto malls are gearing up for the holiday season pretty early. They’re looking to hire Santa Claus performers this winter and if you think you have what it takes, you can apply to be a professional Mr Claus in the city. Here’s what to know.

From November 12th to December 24th, 2024, the spotlight will shine on jolly individuals who embody the spirit of Santa Claus and bring joy this holiday season.

Both Fairview Mall and Sherway Gardens are looking for jolly old St Nick as they prepare for the most hectic time of the year.

And you can apply to be one via Hire A Santa. The all-season company is looking to fill its roster of available Santas to not only work at malls but also as a professional performer in Canada.

“We are the only Canadian company that offers coast-to-coast full-service Santa services,” shares the company.

“All year we live in the North Pole working like elves cranking the behind-the-scenes Clause machinery. That includes keeping our stable of professional Santas well-informed on proper beard maintenance, popular new toys, and how to engage with kids of all ages.”

According to the job listing, the role of Santa Claus is no ordinary task. It requires more than just donning a costume; it demands a genuine connection with people, especially the little ones.

Santas must have proven experience and undergo a complete background check.

They must be compassionate, patient and be a quick thinker.

Appearance also plays a significant role in the Santa experience. Make sure you have a clean costume and accessories, and of course, a beard.

Rosy cheeks, a twinkle in the eyes, and a hearty “Ho, Ho, Ho” are the signature elements that bring Santa to life – be sure to have that too.

Being punctual and prepared are non-negotiables for Santas. A strong work ethic ensures motivation and engagement throughout the season, even during demanding times towards the end of the program.

If you’re ready to step into the role of Santa Claus and spread holiday cheer in Toronto, this is your chance to shine. Applications can be filled out online.
