Sweat, smile, and saddle up for Stampede at Calgary’s coziest fitness studio

The older I get, the more inherently clear it becomes. It can be sparsely populated, but getting by really does take a village. To be successful, to stay sane, and to grow, you need a community, and in Calgary, Home Lifestyle Club aims to be exactly that.

Welcome Home

Born out of a love for fitness, fun, and her friends, Brittney Hruska opened Home Lifestyle Club in 2024 and has since welcomed over 4,000 Instagram followers, spin-thusiasts, and beginners into her family.

Described as “a brand new take on an old concept,” this studio offers so much more than a few classes. It also gives people a sense of belonging.

“A couple of years ago, I was offered the opportunity to take over a space in downtown Calgary,” Hruska told Curiocity.

“I was like, ‘I need to call in the best people I know.'”

It was with her inner circle that she was able to make her dream a reality: a dynamic studio where no one feels intimidated, unwelcome, or like they’re a stranger.

“My goal of the studio was to make it feel really, really different than what any other studio feels like,” she explained.

“When you come in, you’re greeted, and everyone is just so happy you’re there. We treat everyone that walks in the door like they’re family.”

No experience? No problem

As someone who used to prefer to work out in their living room, Home’s overall concept is a comfort.

“It doesn’t matter who you are. If you’ve worked out before, if you’ve never worked out before, there’s space for you,” the owner told us.

“An idea of making sure that everyone feels super seen and super heard and that they belong — I think that’s really important… we wanted to make it just feel like you wanted to be there all the time, and feel like it was actually your second home, because that’s the house that I grew up in.”

With what she describes as an “open door policy,” Hruska’s parents are nothing short of an inspiration, even adopting one of her brother’s friends when they were younger.

“I wanted Home to feel like a space where you can come in, and you can fall apart, and you can find joy,” she added.

The Classes

From spin to strength building. Home offers a wide variety of classes.

Here, not only can you ride a stationary bike to everything from Taylor Swift to Cher, but you can also take a modern step or sculpt class, repair and relieve soft tissue during their roll and restore series, and for a limited time, prep for the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth.

Until July 3, Calgarians are encouraged to participate in their Stampede Training Camp, a prep course for the city’s craziest event.

“It’s the hardest 10 days of the year, and you need to be prepared for it. Like, you need to go in at your best, look in your best, feeling your best, vibing your best,” she said.

Memberships

Can’t make it to one of the classes before the big day, don’t fret — especially if you’re an essential worker.

At Home, students, teachers, and nurses get discounts, but so do first-timers and out-of-towners.

For those who have never visited but would like to try it out, $69 will get you two weeks of unlimited visits, unless you live elsewhere.

According to their website, travellers can also take unlimited classes for 10 days, but for only $55.

If, however, you’ve been and are currently living in Calgary, drop-in classes start at $29.

There’s really no place quite like Home, Calgary, so check them out.

It’s where the heart is!
