Festive date ideas to try out in Vancouver this holiday season

The holidays have arrived and so has one of the most romantic times of year, in our opinion. Twinkling Christmas lights, warm sips of mulled wine, and time hand-in-hand on the ice. Here are some festive date ideas to try out in Vancouver this holiday season.

VanDusen Festival of Lights

VanDusen’s iconic Festival of Lights will have over one million sparkling holiday lights this year, as well as a new interactive mycelium installation and a display inspired by BC’s gamed Great Bear Rainforest. Name something more romantic than taking a winter stroll through mesmerizing light displays with a mini donut in hand. We’ll wait!

Holiday History & Hot Chocolate Tour 

For a limited time over the holiday season, Forbidden Vancouver Walking Tours is bringing back its iconic Holiday History & Hot Chocolate Tour, which dives into downtown’s most historic heritage buildings and takes participants to the city’s beloved “gingerbread lane” – among other festive destinations. Best of all? You’ll get to walk hand in hand with your date with some tasty cocoa from Trees!

Cost: $49 per person, including hot chocolate

Shipyards Christmas Market 

Maybe the way to your heart is through a Christmas Market, and what better place to start than the all-new Shipyards Christmas Market? With over 75 wooden stalls adorned with twinkling lights and a variety of artisanal delights, the market is the perfect place to take a special someone. Enjoy a cup of mulled wine and lace up at the outdoor ice rink.

Merry & Bright at Martini Town

Ready to step into a world of movie magic? Martini Film Studios has once again transformed into its own holiday town experience straight out of a Christmas movie. Think garlands, cocoa, mistletoe, and falling “snow”!

When: Wednesday, Dec. 4 to Jan. 5, 2025
Where: 1123 272 Street, Langley
Cost: $22 per adult

Canyon Lights

Speaking of dazzling Christmas lights, Capilano’s world-famous suspension bridge has transformed into a winter wonderland, complete with romantic light tunnels and a flowing path of lights through the forest.

When: Friday, November 22nd to Sunday, January 19th
Where: Capilano Suspension Bridge Park
Cost: $71.95 per adult

Candlelight Concerts

From Queen to Ed Sheeran, to Coldplay, to holiday classics, there are a ton of Candlelight Concerts taking place across the city this season. And honestly, there’s nothing more romantic than dim lighting and beautiful orchestral music!

Where: Various locations depending on performance

Robson Square Ice Rink

Finally, it doesn’t get more classic than renting $5 skates and lacing up at Robson Square for a special pre or post-dinner skate session.

The outdoor ice rink is now open from 9 am to 9 pm.

Cost: $5 for skate rentals
