Job-hunting? Well, if it’s a bigger paycheck that you’re after, you may want to start learning the highest-paid foreign languages in Canada.
Researchers at the language learning app Preply have published a ranking of the highest-paid and most in-demand foreign languages for jobs in Canada.
The report analyzed over 1.5 million job ads to see which languages are landing the biggest paycheques and which ones are the most sought-after by employers.
Researchers found that the biggest six-figure earners in Canada are Swedish-speaking employees.
“Swedish-speaking positions were accompanied by the highest average salary of $196,261 offered per year,” the report says.

Here are the highest-paid foreign languages in Canada, according to the report:
French was not included as a foreign language in the report, but if it was, it would’ve landed in 7th place.
There are also many in-demand languages in Canada. The report found that Spanish speakers are the most in-demand in the country.
“With 6,200 bilingual positions (not including French-speaking positions) available in Toronto, 1,493 were dedicated to Spanish speakers,” says Preply.
The second-highest number of job openings are for Mandarin speakers, followed by German, and Punjabi.
