This Ontario park has a huge dramatic waterfall & breathtaking lookouts

There’s something so mesmerizing about the sight of water tumbling over a cliff into a calm pool below. If you can’t miss the opportunity to see a majestic waterfall, High Falls at Pigeon River Provincial Park must be on your list.

The dramatic falls stand at a whopping 28 metres high, making it one of the tallest in Ontario.

Believe it or not, Ontario shares this waterfall with the U.S. state of Minnesota.

The 2 km loop trail to the falls takes you along a historic logging road and is about one hour round-trip.

Along the way, you’ll get to enjoy a view of Pigeon River’s steep walled gorge and visit the old chimney site, says Ontario Parks.

There are some steep stairs and hills in sections of it, so prepare accordingly.

Once you arrive at the falls, you’ll have views of the powerful cascade as well as the Grand Portage State Park across the river.

High Falls is not the only waterfall you’ll find at this provincial park. An easy 700-metre trail will take you to Middle Falls, which is only 6 metres high but is beautiful in its own right.

The park also has a gorgeous accessible boardwalk trail that takes you to a viewing platform above the Lake Superior shoreline.

The Finger Point Trail takes you up to panoramic views of Lake Superior, the shores of Canada and the USA, and to the scenic Finger Point region.

Fans of art and history will be blown away by the real evidence of human history at this park which dates way back to 7,000 BC.

The history is depicted through a series of carved metal art sculptures.

Between the waterfalls, scenic trails, and unique heritage, it’s safe to say that a trip here won’t leave you disappointed.
