Hidden gems you have to check out at the Calgary Stampede this year

From the midway to the Coke Stage, there is no shortage of wonderfully exciting things to do on the grounds at the Calgary Stampede. But what if you need to beat the heat or just want a break from the crowd?

For those looking for something a little different, there are a ton of lesser-known spots up and down stairs, in unassuming buildings, and even hidden in plain sight.

Want to add a little something to your honky tonk experience? Here are a few “secret” spots you can check out on your next trip to the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth.

8-Bit Roundup Arcade

Brand new for 2025, the 8-Bit Roundup Arcade will transport you back in time.

With a collection of classic arcade games from the early ’80s, ’90s, and 2000s, guests are in for a real treat. Play Pac-Man, win a few games of pinball, lose a game of Galaga, then repeat. There’s really no better place to recharge than this action-packed retro escape.

Where: The Range Food Hall — lower level of The Big Four
Cost: Free entry with admission

The Stampede Cellar

Located in the Stampede Cellar at the BMO Centre, Holt Renfrew presents an adults-only experience with live performances, panoramic views of the park, and sophisticated sips.

The Champion Wine Experience is where guests can have a glass of chardonnay and see a cabaret show, duelling pianos, or a number of local artists.

In addition, you can check out Grit and Gloss, a Stampede pop-out shop with Charlotte Tillbury products and a Sugar Blossom Charm bar.

You can reserve a table online.

Where: The Stampede Cellar – Level 3 of the BMO Centre
Cost: Varies

Nutrien Centre

Can’t make the chuck wagons, but still want a traditionally western experience? Hit the Nutrien Western Event Centre.

From a “cow horse spectacular” to a stock dog competition, there’s almost always something happening during the day. Check it out, it’s free with admission!

Where: Nutrien Centre on the Stampede grounds — 1800 Stampede Trl. SE, Calgary
Cost: Free entry with admission

Western Oasis

Merlot and music? Count us in.

At the Western Oasis, you can experience the art of the West, unwind at the wine garden, sit, and see live music at the Window on the West Stage.

What better way to relax than with beats, bottles, and good company?

Where: Western Oasis at the BMO Centre
Cost: Free entry with admission
