This Monday, August 5th, 2024 Albertans can take a load off!
Another long weekend has arrived, but no matter who you spend it with, you’ll need to know where you can and can’t spend a morning or afternoon.
Don’t want to have a run-in with a locked door? Here is what will be open and closed on Heritage Day in Edmonton this year.
Need milk, beer or BBQ supplies? You’re in luck. Though we’d recommend checking your local stop hours, most liquor and grocery stores will be open on Heritage Day.
Hoping to learn a little something? This long weekend you will be able to visit several Edmonton museums from the Royal Alberta Museum to The Neon Sign Museum.
Pop some corn! Landmark Cinemas and Cineplex theatres will all be open on August 5th.
Whether you were hoping to check out Victoria, Riverside, or the Rundle, all Edmonton-owned golf courses will also be open on Heritage Day.
Science rules and on Heritage Day, you can check out some amazing family-friendly exhibitions, a movie inside the IMAX, or a light show in the Zeidler Dome at Telus World of Science!

While transit will be operational on August 5th, Trains and buses will run on their Sunday schedule. Please plan ahead, Edmonton!
A little road trip? Why not! Those looking to get outta town on Heritage Day can visit the U of A Botanic Garden.

If, instead, you’d like to get some sun, The Edmonton Valley Zoo will also be open on Heritage Day and will make for a great family outing, especially for those with kids!
Though (again) we’d recommend checking their hours before heading out, West Edmonton Mall, Kingsway, Southgate Centre and Edmonton City Centre malls will all be open this Monday!

Hoping to grab or return a book this upcoming long weekend? Unfortunately, for all of you reading worms, it’ll have to wait. The Edmonton Public Library will be closed on Heritage Day.
Good news errand do-ers! As per their website, no payment is required for on-street parking in Edmonton on Monday, August 5th, 2024, due to the holiday.
While grocery and convenience stores will be open this Monday, Costco will be unshoppable this Canada Day– Looks like you’ll have to get your massive hot dog fix before August 5th, 2024.
