This spring is shaping up to be quite the interesting one, as popular outdoor attractions go ahead with opening their doors to the public with measures, guidelines, and precautions in place. In fact, some YYC faves, like Heritage Park have decided to lean into a socially distanced season, adding new experiences and timed ticketing in the hopes of giving Calgarians a place where they can have fun and stay safe.
This Saturday, May 22nd, the historic village will swing its gates open to families looking for a good time, with a focus on health and attentiveness.
All 127 acres of the park will be accessible, including its brand new Prospect Ridge area which features old-timey staples like a giant working water wheel and a replica of Turner Valley’s Dingman Number 1 Discovery Well; the site credited for launching Alberta’s booming oil industry.

In addition to this, the park’s steam train, S.S. Moyie, and most shops including bakeries will also be reopened to the public at a limited capacity.
“We are working closely with health authorities’ regulations to ensure our protocols can meet or exceed all guidelines, so we can provide a safe experience for our guests, staff, and volunteers,” said Lindsay Gallowa, Heritage Park’s president and CEO in a release.
If you’d like to snag a few tickets for yourself and your loved ones for either this weekend or any date in the future, please visit their website here – but hurry! Because of restrictions, there will a limited amount of space per day.
