Here are the can’t-miss summer events at this year’s Calgary Pride festival

The last year has been full of cancellations and disappointment, but we’re back, YYC! With vaccinations on the rise and the number of COVID cases dwindling, organizations of every kind and cause have been reimagined and rescheduled their events for later this year when we can safely get back to business. One of the organizations that won’t let the pandemic alter their plans was Calgary Pride! Who, after holding a series of virtual events last year, will return this August bigger and better than ever.

From humble beginnings to thousands of spectators and supporters, Calgary’s Pride Festival is easily one of the most vibrant occasions of the entire year and 2021 will be no different.

Though they’ve had to change a few things to keep everyone healthy, safe and happy, the organization has put together a wide variety of activities including:

B!G Pride Festival: August 27th – September 6th, 2021
Calgary Pride Parade (virtual): September 5th, 2021
B!G Pride: Drive-In: September 1st – September 5th, 2021
#OurPride: August 1st – September 6th, 2021
5 days of FREE in-person and streamed spectacles
- Movie Night (licensing does not permit streaming)
- Theatre Night
- Music Night
- Le Cirque de la Nuit (18+ Show)
- Pride Parade Day (virtual)

“This year, we are excited to share our incredible line-up of exciting programs and events we have planned; we aim to have something for every comfort level,” they said in a press release. “Together #WeAreCalgaryPride and “We don’t pivot, we SASHAY!”

For those who choose to attend any of the in-person events, please check their website before your arrival as guidelines and protocols may be in effect – of course, we can’t say for sure right now because it’s still a few months away, but it’s best to keep yourself informed!
