Sea of spring colours: There will be 10 million tulips at BC’s largest farm festival

Great news, BC! The family behind one of the province’s most beloved flower festivals is back with the all-new Harrison Tulip Festival (formerly the Chilliwack Tulip Fest), and this year looks like one for the books.

Now back in Agassiz where it all began, the festival marks the 18th annual tulip fest organized by the Onos family. This year, there will be 35 vibrant acres to explore with a whopping 10 million bulbs – including tulips, double daffodils, and hyacinths.

Visitors can also explore a two-acre shoe garden with a variety of mature fruit and nut trees, flowering shrubs, and grassy pathways with thousands of spring blooms guiding their way.

Among them is fritillaria – a new bloom that promises to be the “debuting belle” of this year’s festival.

Guests can create family or group portraits against the beautiful backdrop of Mount Cheam, utilizing swing sets, antique tractors and horse carts, vintage bikes, a 1950s convertible, and a 1965 Airstream trailer.

There will also be two food trucks onsite every day that the festival runs, and a farm store where souvenirs and fresh-cut and potted flowers can be purchased.

The Harrison Tulip Festival will officially open for the season on Monday, April 8th in Agassiz, so mark your calendars and consider booking your passes ahead of time!
