Ontario has vintage streetcar rides in a colourful autumn forest

All aboard! It’s time for a colourful and historic autumn adventure. The Halton County Radial Railway offers magical trips through the woods on vintage streetcars and it’s a must-do this fall.

The Halton County Radial Railway is a full-size operating electric railway and museum in the town of Campbellsville.

Every weekend in October, the railway offers unlimited historic streetcar rides on two kilometres of scenic track.

Sit on the old-school benches and imagine yourself commuting around town back in the 1920s.

As you gaze out the window you’ll be treated to views of the hardwood forest covered in vibrant autumn colours.

The 20-minute ride will stop at the “famous” ice cream parlour, the display barns, scenic grounds, and historic Rockwood Station.

Although the streetcar ride is short, you can take as many trips as you’d like with your admission ticket.

At the gift shop, you’ll find unique railway-inspired gifts and tasty treats.

It’s also been used as the filming location for several movies including Cinderella Man, Anne of Green Gables, and Daniel Cook.

If you’re somewhat of a railway enthusiast, there are plenty of scenic train rides in Ontario that you have you check out this season.

For example, The Heritage Hopper at Waterloo Central Railway is not your average train ride — it lets you choose your own adventure!

This authentic heritage train ride takes you through Woolwich Township and Waterloo Regions’ famous Mennonite farm country, and you can hop on and off at your leisure.

So, pack your sense of adventure and climb aboard because this is a trip worth taking!
