There’s a village in Ontario that is known for offering a ‘Hallmark experience’

Ontario is full of charming towns and villages, and Bayfield just so happens to be one of those charmers. It’s home to a scenic park on the edge of a bluff and staircases that lead to a beach. Sunset seekers, here’s your next road trip.

The historic village is located on the shores of Lake Huron, just about three hours away from Toronto.

Next Stop: Bayfield, Ontario

According to Destination Ontario, Bayfield was a popular port back in the mid-19th century due to its “proximity to the Bayfield River’s mouth, a naturally sheltered harbour.”

Now, this town is known for its stunning coastlines, lakeside vistas, and downtown core. It’s a popular summer hotspot and even better in the fall.

Per the Village of Bayfield, it’s a charming and historic place that some may even say offers a “Hallmark experience”

“Take a stress-free countryside road trip where you find one-of-a-kind boutique shopping, unique restaurants, wineries, breweries, hiking, accommodations, and more,” shares the site.

Staircase to the shoreline

Just outside of the Main Beach is South beach, often referred to as Howard Beach. To get down to the water you’ll have to head down a staircase with approximately 80 steps to the sandy shore.

Houston Heights Beach is another destination with a wooden staircase.

This secluded location offers access via the staircase with approximately 85 steps down to the sandy shores.

Though going for a dip is not ideal in this season, Bayfield’s beaches are perfect for sunset viewing.

After all, Lake Huron is known for having some of the best ones around.

Have fun in Bayfield!
