This forest canopy walkway in BC takes you above trees that are over 100 years old

If you love venturing into the forest for a relaxing forest bath or stroll through nature, UBC’s Greenheart TreeWalk is a must-visit. Suspended 20 metres above the forest floor, the canopy walkway takes you on a 310-metre-long journey above ancient Douglas firs and cedars that are well over 100 years old.

Visitors can walk from platform to platform at their own pace, or opt for a guided tour of the forest canopy, where one of Greenheart’s Naturalists will dive into ways to identify trees, observe diverse ecosystems, and learn more about First Nations’ cultural use of plants. You may even spot some woodpeckers, hummingbirds, and owls in the process!

At the peak of the Greenheart TreeWalk, visitors will be suspended 23 metres above the forest floor on a viewing platform, so you’ll have the perfect place to take it all in.

Note that guided tours are available from April 1st to October 31st every year.

The aerial trail system gives visitors a bird’s eye view of Vancouver’s coastal temperate rainforest, allowing them to get up close and personal with flora and fauna that would otherwise be inaccessible.

Rest assured, the TreeWalk’s design and engineering do not damage the trees or surrounding ecosystems, so you’re free to wander the treetops and pretend you live among them.

Note that admission to the TreeWalk is $23 per person, and also includes admission to UBC’s Botanical Garden. The TreeWalk is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. until October 31st.

So there you have it, BC! Time to walk above the changing trees.

Greenheart TreeWalk at UBC

When: Tuesday to Sunday, until October 31st
Where: Campbell Building, 6804 SW Marine Drive
