A gorgeous Ontario biosphere is the world’s largest freshwater archipelago

Summer is meant for exploring, and if you’re in Ontario, I’d bet there’s plenty of the province you haven’t seen yet. The Georgian Bay World Biosphere Reserve spans over 13,000 sq. km along the eastern shoreline of Georgian Bay; it’s as gorgeous as it is fascinating, and is considered the largest freshwater archipelago in the world.

13,000 sq. km is a lot of ground to cover, so I’ve broken down some of the best spots in the area to hit up.

Cross the French River

The French River Bridge offers views of the rock-walled gorge below. The river runs from Lake Nipissing to Georgian Bay and is a designated Canadian Heritage River.

Take in the views at a beachfront cabin

These rustic Christian Beach cabins are the perfect place to book for a weekend of relaxation.

“These smaller, one-room cabins located on the western shore of Beausoleil Island offer a quiet retreat and sunset views, far from the busy hub of Cedar Spring Campground,” shares Parks Canada.

Explore Point Grondine Park

Point Grondine Park is truly stunning.

The area is known for its river views, old-growth pine forests and Wemtagoosh Falls, which you can hike to!

There are also 22 backcountry campsites, and over 20 km of trails you can check out.

Will you be checking out parts of the Georgian Bay World Biosphere Reserve before summer ends, Ontario?
