This full moon festival in Toronto celebrates East Asian heritage & there’s free mooncake

Fall is around the corner, and with that comes some exciting events to look forward to. Among those events is the Full Moon Festival, a massive celebration of East Asian culture.

This festival is known as Tsukimi in Japanese culture, Chuseok in Korean culture, and the Mid-Autumn Festival in Chinese culture.

It’s celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th month of the lunar calendar, and this year, the event will be held on October 1st.

The Full Moon Festival will take place in North York and will be completely free to attend.

Not only that, but those who register early for their free ticket online will also get a complimentary mooncake from Daigyo Cafe in North York.

There will be all kinds of drop-in activities to participate in, plus prizes and engaging demos.

The event will take place in the North York Centre on the ground level by the food court.

Food demonstrations will take place in the Burgundy Room in North York Memorial Hall.

This is a vibrant time of year in our city and an amazing opportunity to celebrate one of the most important East Asian holidays of the year.
