This BC park has a sand & pebble beach and well-maintained hiking trails

If you love finding coastal gems and exploring marine wildlife, it doesn’t get much better than the scenic Strait of Juan de Fuca. One of the most popular draws of the area? French Beach Provincial Park, which is full of memorable adventures in the making. Whether you want to enjoy some breathtaking sunsets, hike through lush forests, dip into the cool waters of a pebble beach, or a combination of the three – there are plenty of ways to keep yourself occupied here!

Located between Sooke and Jordan River, the park offers visitors a 1,600-metre sand and pebble beach with fantastic views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca, Olympic Mountains, and if you’re lucky, migrating gray whales and seabirds.

Even better, the park is a great starting point for a full day or weekend of exploration in the area, as visitors can easily hop to Juan de Fuca Provincial Park, or catch some waves at Jordan River.

For campers, French Beach offers year-round, vehicle-accessible camping in a truly stunning natural setting. Park amenities include a picnic/day-use area, a sani-station, pit toilets, and fresh water.

For hikers, there are approximately 2 km of well-maintained hiking trails to explore, taking visitors through salt marshes and second-growth forests of Douglas Fir, Sitka Spruce, and Western Cedar.

Although there are no designated swimming areas, the park is located on the Pacific Ocean, and the waters make for a beautiful (albeit colder) dip.

So there you have it, Vancouver! For a scenic summertime adventure, you know where to look.
