FlixBus is expanding its Calgary routes with new connections launching this spring

If you’ve been looking for a cheaper, easier way to get out of Calgary without dealing with driving or flights, there is a new option rolling in this spring that makes things much more convenient.

FlixBus is expanding its Western Canada network, adding new and improved routes to connect Calgary with cities across the prairies, including Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

This is the kind of update that quietly makes a big difference, especially for anyone looking for a budget-friendly way to travel between major cities and smaller communities without needing a car.

The expansion officially launches on May 7, 2026, and it introduces a more connected prairie system built around three main route lines.

According to a recent press release, the existing Edmonton-Saskatoon-Regina route will continue to operate, while the Calgary main route now travels through Lethbridge and Medicine Hat before continuing into Saskatchewan with stops in Swift Current, Moose Jaw, and Regina.

From there, a new eastbound connection links Regina to Brandon and Winnipeg, expanding Flixbus’s service in Manitoba for the first time.

Instead of having to piece together multiple travel routes, the new network is designed to run more directly through key stops, making it easier to get between provinces for weekend trips, work, school, or visiting family.

As travel costs continue to rise, more Canadians are looking for practical alternatives to flights and long drives, and that is exactly where this expansion comes in.

“This launch reflects the growing demand we’re seeing for intercity bus travel as Canadians look for practical alternatives to rising travel costs and more flexibility in how they travel,” said Karina Frayter, head of communications at Flix North America.

For Calgary travellers, this launch means more direct access to cities across Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, along with a simpler way to plan everything from weekend getaways to long summer trips.

Anyone planning their next trip can already book tickets for the new and expanded routes on the FlixBus website and mobile app, which means one less excuse to keep putting off that trip you’ve been talking about.
