If you haven’t checked out Grey County in Ontario, it is a great area to explore the province. From hikes to arts and culture, Grey County is home to several communities, each with its own history and beauty. Some are even a little off the beaten path. One of the villages here is Flesherton, which is home to a beautiful waterfall.
According to Grey County, “for decades, Flesherton has been known as the hub for arts, culture and food in southern Grey.”
You can find many visitors and locals at Flesherton & District Farmers’ Market, or at the Flesherton Art Gallery, which goes out of its way to make art “accessible and affordable.”
The best way to get around the village is by walking. It os why Flesherton is a designated “walking village.” From strolling around to starting a hike, those looking for a nice walk can definitely find that here.
Located at the intersection of Highway 10 and Grey Road 4, Flesherton was named after the early settler “WK Flesher.” Today, you can still see old buildings with Victorian Mansard roofs, parapets and ornate brickwork, as per Grey County.
What’s more is this area is home to Hogg’s Falls. Like the rest of the village, it is a great place to walk/hike.
Hogg’s Falls has an Upper Side Trail loop that starts in its parking lot on the Lower Valley Rd about 1.8 km north of East Back Line, in Flesherton. The 3.7 km. loop is a moderate hike, and is also open for snowshoeing in the winter.
These falls are considered one of Grey County’s best-kept secrets. And it’s in a charming town, so definitely one to add to the list of must-visit spots in Ontario!
