Exciting upcoming Edmonton festivals to add to your 2026 calendar

There’s a reason Edmonton has the nickname “Canada’s Festival City.”

Year-round, Edmonton and the surrounding areas are home to some of the best festivals. Whether it’s for music, food, art, or something entirely different, the festivals just don’t stop coming. No matter what you want to do this year, Edmonton has got you covered on multiple bases.

So, without further ado, we’ve rounded up some of Edmonton’s most exciting festivals for the rest of the year. Let’s get into it, shall we?

Downtown Defrost

Downtown Defrost is an established music festival in Edmonton, coming up on its 11th year running. After winter comes the defrost, and that’s what this festival is here for. Providing big artist names and packing visuals, art, and world-class music, this is a must-visit.

When: Friday, April 3, 2026, and Saturday, April 4, 2026

NorthwestFest

One of Edmonton’s longstanding film festivals, NorthwestFest, will be back this April for more excellent indie filmmaking.

Rockin’ Thunder

This is the second year of Rockin’ Thunder in Edmonton, bringing even bigger rock names to the stage. With Creed and Three Days Grace, you can expect to be headbanging all night.

Great Outdoors Comedy Festival

The Great Outdoors Comedy Festival experience is truly one of a kind, and with stops across the country in 2026, it’s one you won’t want to miss. Names like viral comedian Matt Rife will headline the festival this summer.

Neon Skies Festival

Neon Skies Festival is Edmonton’s newest pop music festival, being held right in the middle of the city — in ICE District’s Fan Park. This will be the festival’s first year, its inaugural two-night party, held this summer in July.

Edmonton Heritage Festival

With over 100 international awards, this heritage festival is one of the largest in the world. For the summer, you can experience three days of this multicultural extravaganza.

Edmonton Folk Festival

Folk Fest is one of Edmonton’s most popular festivals, making the summer bigger and brighter each year. Although the lineup hasn’t been released yet, you can only expect the best from it.

Cariwest

For three days, the heart of Edmonton will be filled with rich Caribbean culture, infectious music, and energetic performances.

Boots and Hearts West

Boots and Hearts is bringing its iconic country music charm out west in 2026. This will be the first time the festival will be leaving Ontario, and there’s no better place than the wild, wild west.

Headliners for Boots and Hearts West are Russell Dickerson on Friday, who will also be headlining in Ontario, and Shaboozey on Saturday. Both are country music legends with impressive discographies.

When: Friday, Aug. 28, 2026, and Saturday, Aug. 29, 2026
