An international women’s film festival is coming to Toronto next week

Festival season is about to be in full swing here in Toronto, and not just the live music kind. An international women’s film fest called Female Eye Film Festival (FeFF) begins on June 9 at TIFF Bell Lightbox.

The festival is described as an “eclectic program of features, documentaries, [and] shorts” made by Canadian and foreign women and gender-diverse directors.

The features at this year’s festival definitely live up to its tagline — “always honest, not always pretty.”

Also debuting at FeFF this month is the highly-anticipated Late-Night Thrills and Chills, “an international program of horror, suspense, and thrillers directed by women.”

This year marks FeFF’s 20th anniversary. It’s gained tons of popularity since its inception in 2001 and was even named one of 50 film festivals “worth the entry fee” by Movie Maker Magazine.

Some of the Canadian features that will be showcased at FeFF include “We’re All in This Together,” The Kissing Game,” and “Be Still.”

The foreign film highlights include “Mama Irene: Healer of the Andes,” “Independent Miss Craigie,” “Moonlight Shadow Wall,” and “Forbidden Womanhood.”

If you love thought-provoking films that explore untold stories and unique perspectives, and also want to show your support for female and diverse filmmakers, this festival is for you.
