Fake toonies are being used in Ontario & they look ridiculous (PHOTO)

Someone in Ontario is doing the absolute most for some free coffee. Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in the town of Hawkesbury issued a notice earlier this week after fake toonies were used to purchase items at a store.

OPP shared photos of the toonies in question, which look legit at first glance but upon closer inspection are indeed very fake — note “Z DOLLARD” instead of “2 DOLLARS.”

“The OPP would like everyone to be aware of this and to be vigilant in assuring they do not fall victim to this fraud,” said police in their statement.

Individuals with any leads about this fake toonie operation are asked to contact Hawkesbury OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or leave an anonymous tip by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222- 8477 (TIPS).

As some extra incentive, police say you may be eligible for some (real) cash in exchange for helpful information, and it could be up to $2,000.

Tempting as it may be, it’s probably best to turn your “Z DOLLARD” into police instead of using it to score some free stuff at the convenience store.
