This Ontario park sits on an ancient meteorite crater & it has a spring-fed lake

Looking for a unique adventure this summer? Fairbank Provincial Park has been a beloved outdoor destination for over 50 years here in Ontario.

Nestled on the western edge of the Sudbury Basin, this park offers visitors a unique experience that combines natural beauty and intriguing geology.

One of the most fascinating aspects of Fairbank Provincial Park is its geological significance.

The park lies on the very edge of the Sudbury Basin, an ancient meteorite impact crater formed 1.8 billion years ago, according to Ontario Parks.

Geologists estimate that the crater was once as wide as 200 km, but erosion over time has reduced it to its current size of 60 km long and 30 km wide!

One of the main attractions of Fairbank Provincial Park is the stunning Fairbank Lake.

This spring-fed has crystal-clear waters and the buoyed beach is perfect for swimming.

With its picturesque surroundings of rolling forested hills, Fairbank Lake truly lives up to its name.
