Well, folks, Bellevue is about to get a whole lot techier. And if you thought that wasn’t possible, well, Facebook just bought REI’s new headquarters. Because in case you didn’t know, REI decided to sell the newly completed property after a company-wide shift to remote work.
And this purchase by Facebook comes as they too have shifted to remote working. But with that in mind, it’s looking like about 2,300 people will work at this office when it opens later this year. With this new purchase, Facebook now has over 3 million square feet of office space in the Seattle area. Yowza!

However, this expansion cost a pretty penny, in fact, the 6-acre property cost $367.6 million. But we think Mr. Zuckerberg has more than enough dough to cover that cost. And in case you were wondering, Facebook will keep its Seattle offices as well. So if you’re looking for a job, you should check out one of their over 400 openings.
And while we’re sad that REI doesn’t get to utilize this space we’re sure that they are doing what’s best for the company. Not to mention, they probably got a pretty good return on the sale of this property.
