Enjoy winter in solitude and style at this hidden BC retreat

We’ll be the first to admit that there’s something magical about cozying up by the fire with some hot chocolate, with a winter wonderland just steps away from you. And if you’re looking to book a little getaway in January, there is a relaxing BC resort just outside of Salmon Arm that is the perfect home base, if you ask us.

Tin Poppy Retreat is a resort tucked away in the Larch Hills, located pretty much at the midway point between the Shuswap and the Okanagan. Featuring only 4 cabins but sitting on 160 acres of private land, it’s the perfect place to unwind with that special someone, family, or friends.

The cabins here can sleep anywhere from 4 to 12 guests at a time, and range from $150 to $225 a night. So, even if you’re just heading there for a couple’s retreat, you’re still getting an amazing deal. Especially since the amenities range from BBQs to gas fireplaces to wood-fired saunas. Keep in mind though that some of the more basic options don’t have electricity or running water, so those are for the more rugged nature lovers.

As for amenities, guests can enjoy everything from nearby cross-country trails to day trips to ski resorts (SilverStar is just an hour away) to fireside board games. The best part though? The private walking/snowshoe trails that let you explore the resort in full, taking you through forests, around lakes and more.

While the namesake Tin Poppy Cabin is all booked up for this month and next month, the lovely Violet Cabin, Lavender House, and Wild Rose Cabin all have availability in January! So if you have to work through the holidays or are looking to start your new year off with a little getaway, check out their rates and book while you can.
