From mountains and vibrant cities to charming small towns, there are some incredibly fun places to visit in Alberta, and the Elbow Falls Provincial Recreation Area is essentially a “playground.”
Described as “one of the best” by Travel Alberta, this natural beauty is a gem year-round, however, there’s something extra special about it in the wintertime.
Located just 45 minutes from Calgary, this southeast destination is an “ideal” day trip, where you can paddle in the summer or bike or hike year-round—just don’t miss the star of the show!
As the name suggests, the heart of the park is really its waterfall—a feature so scenic, that even Hollywood bigwigs have taken notice.
An impressive site, that is “easy to get to” depending on the time of year, visitors are encouraged to take the pathway from the parking lot.
This trail in particular is short, paved, well maintained, and leads to a scenic viewpoint that might look familiar to film buffs.
Starring Jeremy Renner and Edward Norton, ‘The Bourne Legacy’ is an “expansion of the universe from Robert Ludlum’s novels,” which follows a new hero affected by the events of the previous three films.
In addition to the Philippines, South Korea, and the US, the movie was filmed in Alberta, Canada – which includes Elbow Falls.
Want to check it out?
Make some room on your camera roll because it’s a stunner, and be sure to check ahead for any road closures in the area so you can adjust your route accordingly.
You’re in for quite the treat.
Happy visiting!
