Edmonton to see the return of a massive and free Pride Fest next month

After a 3-year hiatus (yes, even before the pandemic), Edmonton is finally going to see another Pride Fest this June! A massive new festival is currently in the works, and will be taking over Churchill Square in the heart of the city. Here’s what we know so far.

Organized by the Edmonton PrideFest Association, the festival will be a free and inclusive celebration for the LGBTQ2S+ community. The new association has got three pillars guiding the event- anti-racism, Indigenous solidarity, and the promotion of arts and culture in the city.

While details are still being worked out, a few performers have already signed on. They include the Toronto-based singer Virginia to Vegas, Saskatchewan’s Amy Hef, and Edmonton’s own Neha Batra. What’s more, the festival has promised a wide range of drag queens from both local and international scenes.

In addition to the performances, the Edmonton Pride Fest will also put on ‘Rainbow Road’, which is a collection of vendors and food trucks for visitors to check out. Like with the performers, we’ll make sure to give a more thorough rundown closer to the date!

In the meanwhile, pencil the return of this much-missed festival into your calendars!
