Make a splash: Here’s when Edmonton’s outdoor pools open this year

H2Oh yes! With the sun in the sky, summer is just around the corner and it won’t be long until we’re looking for a place to cool off! Luckily,  Edmonton has a ton of outdoor pools, spray parks, and wading pools in the area – many of which will open this month!

Just in time for next weekend, the city announced that Fred Broadstock Outdoor Pool will open to the public Saturday, May 20th, 2023 – weather permitting.

Just a week later, Queen Elizabeth will also allow patrons to hit the deck on Tuesday, May 30th, followed by Oliver Outdoor Pool on Saturday, June 3rd, then Borden Natural Swimming Pool will open on June 10th, 2023.

Unfortunately, those in the Mill Creek area will have to wait until 2024, as this community’s public pool will remain closed for the duration of the season.

Can’t wait to make a splash this spring? Patrons can guarantee fast access by reserving a swim time on their Move, Learn, Play website as far as 7 days in advance starting May 13th (for Fred Bradstock).

Reservations aren’t required – but you’re definitely going to want to claim your spot on hotter days!

As always, admission to all city pools is FREE with an Edmonton Recreation Centre membership or summer youth pass (available June 19th), otherwise, their regular admission prices apply.

It’s going to be a hot year, Edmonton – so stay hydrated, stay cool and have fun! It won’t be long until it’s cold and snowing again.
