This feline festival in Edmonton is purrrfect for cat lovers

Cat-lovers in Edmonton… you’re going to love this festival.

The Edmonton International Cat Festival is not only Canada’s longest-running cat festival, but Alberta’s biggest. Since beginning in 2014, the community has brought together cats and cat-lovers to help raise money and awareness for cat shelters in the area.

This festival is the go-to spot for cat-lovers and friends of felines. If you consider yourself one, this is definitely an event you won’t want to miss.

What to expect

This year, the cat festival will be running on a Sunday as opposed to the usual Saturday due to venue conflicts. As for the venue, it will take place in downtown Edmonton at MacEwan University.

At the festival itself, you can expect to explore the cat-themed Meowcatplace, including many vendors and shopping opportunities. You can also participate in various cat crafts and activities, listen to cat-themed presentations, meet some celebrity cats, and much, much more.

Past celebrity cat appearances have included Pudge the Cat, Nala the Cat, White Coffee Cat, Luna Rose the Cat, and many other popular names.

If you want a furry friend to take home with you, you can also do that here! Adoptable cats are available from different rescues. If you connect with a cat, there’s a chance you can connect with it fur-ever.

Tickets are officially on sale! They start at $15 for online early bird, $14 for early bird seniors, $20 at the door, and are free for children 12 and under.

The best part about attending this festival? You’re directly supporting local cat rescues in the area, as all proceeds will be donated. So far, they’ve donated almost $200,000 total. Not only are you helping the community, but you’re helping one of our favourite things: cats.

Don’t miss your chance to pet some cats, get some supplies, and maybe even come home with a new friend.
